Elementary and Middle School Groups
Due to high demand, the Office of Admissions has shifted our focus to high school and community college tours. We no longer offer tours for elementary and middle school groups and all slots for our elementary/middle school Education Day events have been filled for the academic year.

🔹 Tour Highlights
Your visit will last about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your group size, and will cover all the must-see spots! Our campus tour experience is a walking tour experience and will include a thorough view of our campus facilities.

🔹 Tour Guidelines
To make sure everyone has the best experience, here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • Groups need 1 chaperone per 10 students, with a max of 75 students per tour.
  • Tours happen rain or shine, and will only be postponed for severe weather or extreme heat.
  • To ensure an authentic academic environment, tours won’t include sitting in on classes, but we promise there’s plenty else to see and enjoy!

🔹 Special Requests
While we’d love to show off our school spirit with things like step shows, mascot meet-and-greets, and meetings with faculty or staff, these aren’t guaranteed during tours. But don’t worry, the tour itself will be full of amazing highlights!

🔹 Booking Your Tour
All tours must be booked in advance. You’ll receive a confirmation email with all the info you need once your tour is set! Unfortunately, we can’t accommodate same-day requests or self-guided tours.
When you’re ready to book, make sure your group is available—unavailable dates will be grayed out.

🔹 Dining Options
Want to grab a bite during your visit? Dining options are available! Once your tour is confirmed, you'll receive information to coordinate meals directly with our catering services. Just a heads up—meals aren’t included in the tour time, so be sure to coordinate with our catering team for availability.

Amenities

Living where you learn has benefits! Make our residence halls your home, and take advantage of all it has to offer.

We provide some furniture items for each residence hall room, including:

  • Desk
  • Chair
  • Dresser
  • Closet
  • Blinds
  • Twin bed with mattress

Suites also include bathrooms with showers and toilets.

Your room is already connected for cable tv and wireless internet. Start using as soon as you move in!

Connect to Internet

To connect to the internet, look for the network “CSU-Wireless” and log in with your student ID and password.

Connect to Cable

Each bedroom has a cable outlet. Using your own cable cord, connect your digital tv to the cable port in your room. Once connected, your tv should have a feature to "channel scan" and find the channels—or check out our channel guide.

Xfinity on Campus

Xfinity on Campus is an added benefit to your campus cable access. It makes it easier to watch your favorite shows on your smartphone, tablet, laptop, or computer. To access, connect online or via the Xfinity Stream app using your Coppin email and password.

Both residence halls have modern computer labs. Each lab lets students print for free, but students must provide their own paper.

There's nothing worse than needing to drag your laundry outside in the heat, rain, or snow to wash your clothes in a laundromat. When you live on campus, you can enjoy the benefit of on-site laundry facilities.

Cost and Payment

1 wash is $1.00
1 dry is $1.00

Pay with Your Eagle Card

You must pay for laundry with your Eagle Card. You can load money onto your Eagle Card in person at the Cashier's Office or at a kiosk.

Services

When you have your own place, you have to take care of things like maintenance, housekeeping, trash and recycling. When you live on campus, we take care of all that for you.

Every student who lives on campus must have a meal plan. There are different options for plans, and students are able to use them to eat in the Talon Center Dining Hall, Tawes Center Diner, and Einstein Bagels.

Each plan allows for unlimited dining while the cafeteria is open. Plans also include Dining Dollars which can be used at the Tawes Center Diner and Einstein Bagels across campus.

Coppin' s Office of Facilities Management provides maintenance and custodial staff for the residence halls. These staff conduct safety inspections, perform general maintenance, and respond to submitted work orders.

Our technicians are on call after business hours and on weekends to respond to emergency repair and other maintenance requests. Custodians regularly clean the public areas in and around all residential buildings.

How to Submit a Work Order

If you have a concern about your room, submit a Work Order through Eagle Links.

  1. Log in to Eagle Links
  2. Click Residence Life
  3. Enter a Work Order

If it's an emergency, please contact front desk staff or resident assistant for help.

Each resident is responsible for keeping rooms, suite areas, and bathrooms clean. This includes properly disposing of recycling and trash.

We provide recycling containers throughout campus, and strongly encourage residents to keep our campus green! For trash, each building floor has a trash room for residents to put their trash in. Housekeeping staff maintains trash rooms, emptying trash daily.

Each resident has an assigned mailbox in their residence hall. Students receive mailbox assignments via email when assigned housing.

Every resident's mail first gets delivered to the Mail and Print Center in the Physical Education Complex, sorted and then delivered to residence halls mailboxes. To make sure your mail gets to you, address all letters packages, and parcels this way:

Your Name
Building Name
Coppin State University
2500 West North Avenue
Baltimore, MD 21216

We hold all packages and items too large for your mailbox in the Mail and Print Center for your pick up.

Learn more about campus mail service

The Office of Housing helps all residents who misplace or lose a key. If you do need a replacement, your student account is billed $175.00 for the replacement.

After hours, your building's Resident Assistant handles lockouts.

Report your misplaced or lost access cards and/or student IDs to Eagle Card Services. It costs $30 to get a replacement Eagle Card.

As a resident, it is your responsibility to keep your suites and bedrooms clean and safe. We periodically provide pest control throughout both residence halls, and also on an as-needed basis for individual rooms or suites.

Do you need your residence hall area treated for pest control? Submit a Work Order through Eagle Links.

How Residency Decides Tuition

How Residency Decides Your Tuition

Know How Residency Affects Your Tuition

Residency is a policy established by the University System of Maryland (USM) to make sure there is a fair and equitable process to determine a student’s classification and tuition rates across all Maryland state schools. Coppin State University uses residency information to determine if a student is considered a Maryland resident and is therefore eligible for in-state tuition status. The USM site also has available Frequently Asked Questions information regarding residency to assist you as you complete the residency form.

In-State Residency Eligibility

To qualify for in-state status, a student must submit the Residency Form within the Application for Admission and demonstrate all of the following requirements for the 12-month period immediately before the semester or term a student is seeking in-state tuition. The USM Residency Policy states a student must:

  • Have continuously kept their primary residence in Maryland
  • Have kept all personal property in Maryland, including but not limited to furniture, personal belongings, and pets
  • Have paid Maryland income tax on all taxable income and filed a Maryland Resident Tax Return
  • Have registered all owned or leased vehicles in Maryland for at least 12 consecutive months. Check the official Residency Policy for other accepted conditions for motor vehicles
  • Have kept a valid Maryland driver’s license for at least 12 consecutive months. Check the official Residency Policy for other conditions that satisfy this requirement
  • Be currently registered to vote in Maryland
  • Receive no public assistance from any state, city, county, or municipality outside the State of Maryland
  • Have a legal federal and state right to live in Maryland, permanently and without interruption

Initial Residency Determination

The initial Residency determination is made in accordance with the residency policy. All students must complete the Residency Form as a part of the Application for Admissions. The deadline to submit the Residency Application is the first day of classes for the semester you choose to enroll.

Out-of-State Residency Classification

You must be a resident of Maryland and meet all the USM criteria to qualify for in-state tuition. You qualify for out-of-state tuition if you are:

  • Attending school or living outside Maryland when you apply or are admitted to Coppin (or another USM school)
  • Financially dependent on a person who is not a Maryland resident

How to Change Residency Status

You may petition to change your residency status by submitting a completed Residency Petition Form and any supporting documentation to the Office of Records and Registration. We cannot accept faxed or emailed Residency Petition forms. The form includes information on where to send a hard copy when complete.

  • Attending school or living outside Maryland when you apply or are admitted to Coppin (or another USM school)
  • Financially dependent on a person who is not a Maryland resident

DACA & Maryland Dream Act

DACA: Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals

The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) programs protects youth who came to the United States when they were children from deportation. DACA students can temporarily qualify for in-state tuition if they submit the approval notification of their Deferred Action status (I-797, notice of action) AND the Maryland Residency Form to the Office of Admissions by the first day of classes of their intended entry term. Deferred Action status must be held for 12 consecutive months prior to the start of the term to be eligible for in-state tuition rates. For more information, please email admissions@coppin.edu.

The Maryland Dream Act: University System of Maryland Nonresident Tuition Exemption for Eligible Maryland High School Graduates

The Dream Act qualifies any student, other than a non-immigrant alien, within the meaning of 8 U.S.C.- 1101(A)(15), who meets all of the requirements listed on the form, for in-state tuition at all public colleges and universities in Maryland. To be eligible, the student must submit the USM Tuition Exemption Request form and provide the required supporting documentation. The required supporting documents are listed on the form.

NOTE: Applicants who hold Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) status should not complete the University System of Maryland Tuition Exemption Request form.
